Kenneth Jackson Award for Best Book in
North American Urban History in 2020

The UHA will award a prize of $500 for the best monograph in
North American urban history with a citation listing 2020 as the year of publication.

  2. Mail materials to the addresses shared with you via email after you filled out the form above. Each member of the award committee must receive a copy of the work(s) submitted. 

Materials must be received by each member of the award committee by May 15, 2021.

Award for Best Book in Non-North American Urban History in 2019 & 2020

The UHA will award a prize of $500 for the best monograph in Non- North American urban history with a citation listing 2019 or 2020 as the year of publication.

Michael Katz Award for Best Dissertation in Urban History completed in 2020
(no geographic restriction)

The UHA will award a prize of $350 for the best dissertation in
urban history with a completion date in 2020. Completion means defended, submitted, and published in your university's library system, with a citation listing 2020 as the year of publication.

If you plan to submit a work for consideration for this award, please follow these steps

    Once you fill out this form, you'll receive an email with the information you need to submit the dissertation and other required information to the award committee. 
  2. Submit materials to the email addresses sent to you via email after you filled out the form above. Each member of the award committee must receive a copy of the dissertation.
Materials must be received by each member of the award committee by May 15, 2021.

Arnold Hirsch Award for Best Article in Urban History published in a scholarly journal in 2020
(no geographic restriction)

The UHA will award a prize of $250 for the best article on urban history published in a scholarly journal with a citation listing 2020 as the year of publication.

If you plan to submit a work for consideration for this award, please follow these steps

    Once you fill out this form, you'll receive an email with the information you need to submit the article and other required information to the award committee.

FAQs

Why do I have to fill out a form to receive the submissions information?
Award committee members provide email and physical addresses for award submissions. Requiring you to fill out a form to receive the submissions information allows us to keep our committee member information more private than if we listed it on our website. 

When will the winners be announced? 
Award winners will be announced in early fall 2021.
